African Dwarf Frogs

African dwarf frogs can be very active and can swim around a lot, especially at night since they're mostly nocturnal. A good guideline to follow when considering how much space your frog needs is at least 2 gallons per ADF. This allows ample room for the frog to swim around in and also allows for a decent amount of water for waste to be diluted in before the weekly water change.

If you have gravel or stones on the bottom of your frog's home, then a great way to prevent whatever you feed your frog, whether pellets or frozen food, from disappearing into the gravel where the frog can't reach it, is to use a dish. A small, never-seen-soap, glass or plastic dish placed in the gravel will allow you to put food where your frog can get to it. After you do this a while, your frog will even be "trained" enough to know right away where to go to eat.

To avoid the problems of freeze dried food, one of the best foods you can feed your ADF is frozen bloodworms or frozen brine shrimp, instead. These can come in resealable packages which make it easier to use. Frogs tend to do very well on these, bloodworms especially, and really seem to enjoy eating it.

Frogs are generally incompatible with fish because of the conflicting care requirements. One of the main reasons is that feeding would be an issue because frogs eat from the bottom of the tank and they can be slow in finding their food. The fish would have no problem eating whatever food you mean for your frog to have, and because of that, the frog could die of starvation.

Some frogs are illegal to import and own, so you will want to make sure that you aren't breaking any laws when you are procuring your frogs. One thing that you can do to save yourself some head-aches is to contact a reputable source online, that can assist you with any questions that you may have and also help you to get started.

The world's smallest crocodile, it can reach maximum lengths of around 6 ft. This is considerably smaller than its much more renowned Nile counterpart, which has been known to hover around 20 ft long in some instances. Fish waste and uneaten food will begin to decay in any environment, but in bowls, the impact will be felt much more quickly than in a large tank because of the small volume of water. Toxic levels will be reached very quickly in this type of environment. In fact, it is recommended that about ½ of the water in a bowl be changed every day, or at least every other day to prevent waste buildup.
